Tip:
Backup 3 lets you schedule your backups at a time that's convenient for you. If you ever miss a backup because your computer is in sleep mode or your iPod is not connected, Backup will launch the missed backup plan when you wake up or turn on your Mac.

Backing Up to iPod

Your iPod is very portable and easy to use, making it a great solution for backing up and storing files. Having a copy of your files on your iPod can also help you protect your data in case your hard disk ever has a problem.
  1. Connect your iPod to your computer. iTunes will launch automatically.
  2. Open iTunes Preferences.
  3. In the iPod pane, choose "Enable disk use." Now your iPod will behave as an external hard drive whenever it is connected to your computer.
  4. Open Backup, choose New Plan from the Plan menu, select Custom, and click Choose Plan.
  5. Click the Add (+) button in the Destination and Schedule pane, and choose iPod from the Destination pop-up menu.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click the Add (+) button under the Backup Items list to select items to back up.
