Use aliases for online purchases, newsletter subscriptions, contests, and fun, reserving your main mac.com address for family and friends.

Chat securely
The first time you launch iChat AV after installing Mac OS X 10.4.3 (or later), you are prompted to set up Secure iChat. From then on iChat AV recognizes when you're communicating with another full .Mac member who's also using Secure iChat, and automatically encrypts your text, audio, and video chats, and your file transfers. (Note: Encryption cannot be activated for text chats with more than two participants.)
